Day 1 - Nice - Antibes - Vence
Antibes may be an old port withboatloads of historical charm,but the luxury yachts makethis very much a 21st centuryplayground. We get a sense ofboth its heritage and jet-set styleas we wander the narrow streetsand impressive harbour. Thenwe swap Antibes for Vence, withits colourful canvas of medievalstreets and market stalls. It's nosurprise swathes of artists havebeen captivated by this city. Welinger here overnight to find outmore, beginning our stay with awelcome dinner together. (D)

Day 2 - Vence - Cannes - Grasse - Vence
This morning we make ourway to the sublime village ofSaint-Paul-de-Vence. Then it'stime to channel your inner filmstar as we arrive in Cannes -famous for its glamorous festival,glitzy hotels and utterly chicboutiques. There's much to seehere, so we go our separateways to allow plenty of timeon Promenade de la Croisette.Wooing us away from theshoreline is Grasse, a hillsidetown north of Cannes that'sfamous for creating world-classperfumes. The end of the daybrings us back to Vence and thelight-filled Chapelle du Rosaire -a masterpiece of contemporarydesign conceived by HenriMatisse. Look for the vivid andabstract stained glass windows,and the stark black-lineddepictions of the Madonna andChild on the walls. (B)

Day 3 - Vence - Aix-Enprovence
Dotted with gravity-defyingmountain villages and reachfor-your-camera scenery, TheVar is ideal driving country. Wetravel through it on our way toAix-en-Provence, stopping at ahandful of characterful villagesas we go. When we reach theOld Town of Aix, we dive into anetwork of narrow streets linedwith spectacular architectureand centuries-old monuments.We even get time to pay avisit to Hôtel de Caumont, anelegant 18th century château onan urban scale, which houses anart centre. Day 4 - Aix-En-Provence - Saint-Rémy-De-Provence

This morning is yours, and youcould use it discover and revisitthe sights of Aix-en-Provence.When we come back together,we head off to Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, pausing in some of the pretty villages scatteredthroughout the Luberon. (B, D)

Day 5 - Saint-Rémy-Deprovence - Orange - Sainte-Cécile-Les-Vignes - Saint-Rémy-De-Provence
Our first stop today is themagnificent Roman Theatre inOrange. This UNESCO WorldHeritage Site is extraordinarilywell preserved, especially itsstriking arch. By this point,we'll be ready for a flavour ofthis area's culinary heritagetoo. So we make our way toSainte-Cécile-les-Vignes wherea private vineyard, deliciouswines and a Provençal lunchawait. Back in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, we have an evening to ourselves. (B, L)

Day 6 - Saint-Rémy-Deprovence - Pont Du Gard - Avignon - Arles

Roman engineering. Catholicarchitecture. It must mean we'reen route to Avignon. We paya visit to the iconic Pont duGard, an impressive two-tierRoman aqueduct that carriesus on a journey back in time.Onwards to Avignon, we crosssublime landscapes before weenter this 14th century city tosee its sights. At the top of ourlist are the Palace of the Popes,which towers over the historiccentre, and the legendary Saint-Bénezet Bridge. By the time wereach Arles, in the heart of theCamargue region, we'll be readyfor a delicious dinner at a localrestaurant. (B, D)

Day 7 - Arles
Museum and gallery hop bymorning. Spend the afternoontracing the brushstrokes of Vincent Van Gogh and PabloPicasso. And in between, pullup a chair in a cosy bistro orshady square to watch theworld go by. Whatever youfeel like doing in Arles, thewhole day is at your disposal.We can point you towards theRoman amphitheatre, bathsand monastery. Or you coulddiscover the city's bullfightingheritage and artistic side all byyourself. There are thousands ofyears of history and culture touncover here. (B)

Day 8 - Arles - Les Baux-deprovence - Gorges Du Verdon
We make for the mountainstoday and venture into the ‘LittleAlps'. First up is the Huguenotstronghold of Les Baux-de-Provence. Here we marvel atthe extraordinary Carrières deLumières, where works of artare projected on to the walls ofthis former quarry. Finally, wearrive at the sensational Gorgesdu Verdon - for many, the jewelin this region's crown. Thiscenturies-old canyon, circledby quaint villages, captivatesfrom the moment you see it.It's so spectacular that we stayin the area overnight to trulyappreciate it, and settle down toa final dinner together. Day 9 - Gorges Du Verdon - Castellane - Nice
It's time to say goodbye today,but not before one last trip. Ourtour's last stop sees us in thecobbles of Castellane. Look outfor the dazzlingly high ChapelleNotre-Dame du Roc and groupsof locals venturing off, oars inhand, on rafting and kayakingexpeditions along the nearbyrivers. After that, we return toNice where we bid one another"au revoir". (B)
