Tour Overview
One of SITA’s most popular tours in Italy, this itinerary is bound to enchant all along. Visit the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Italy’s unique architectural marvel. Arrive in Cinque Terre, famous for its long stretch of rocky coastline dotted with stunning landscapes and discover some of the regions charming old villages. Explore Chianti, the heart of Tuscany world renowned for its quality wines, before proceeding for a wine tasting in the medieval landscapes of San Gimignano. The wine experience gets better with a visit to Montepluciano to taste Nobile wine, one of Tuscany’s finest wines. Discover the fascinating ancient Roman city of Sorrento, destroyed by volcanic eruption, and preserved by volcanic ash for 1700 years.

Day 1 – Sunday – Rome – Pisa – Lucca – La Spezia

Departure from Destination Italia Sightseeing office at 8:00 a.m. for Pisa. Visit of the city of the Leaning Tower, a totally unique work of architectural art situated in Piazza dei Miracoli. Proceed to Lucca, one of the most beautiful spots in Tuscany, also known as the “city of a hundred churches” due to the huge amount of places of worship in the old town centre. Departure for La Spezia and check-in at the hotel. Welcome dinner in a local restaurant and overnight stay. Meals: Dinner


Day 2 – Monday – La Spezia – Cinque Terre – La Spezia – Siena Area

Breakfast in the hotel and departure from the port of La Spezia to start the boat excursion to the Cinque Terre, one of the most unspoilt areas of Italy, a long stretch of rocky coastline filled with bays and beaches on a crystal sea, dotted with little villages, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. Arrival by boat at Porto Venere and proceed to Vernazza and Monterosso, the biggest and oldest Cinque Terre village, divided into two parts: the old town, and the new town. Return to La Spezia by train to board the bus to Siena area. Check-in at the hotel. Dinner in the hotel and overnight stay. Meals: Breakfast, Dinner


Day 3 – Tuesday – Siena Area – Gaiole In Chianti – Radda In Chianti – Greve In Chianti – San Casciano In Val Di Pesa – San Gimignano – Siena Area

Breakfast in the hotel and departure to discover the wonderful Chianti area, which has always been considered the heart of Tuscany, and which is famous all over the world for its renowned wines. Time at leisure in Giaole in Chianti, Radda in Chianti and Greve in Chianti. Proceed to San Gimignano, stop near San Casciano in Val di Pesa for a wine tasting in an enchanting local winery along the way. Upon arrival in San Gimignano, free visit to the old town centre of this medieval town, a UNESCO World Heritage site. A second wine tasting will be the best way to end the day. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay. Meals: Breakfast, Dinner


Day 4 – Wednesday – Siena Area – Siena – Montepulciano – Roma

Breakfast in the hotel and guided tour of the old town centre of Siena, a medieval city built around Piazza del Campo, famous all over the world for its architectural beauty and unique “shell” shape. Proceed to Montepulciano to taste ‘Nobile’ wine, one of the oldest and finest wines of Tuscany. Immediately afterwards, departure for Rome and arrival in the late afternoon. Check-in at the hotel, dinner at leisure and overnight stay. Meals: Breakfast


Day 5 – Thursday – Rome – Naples – Pompeii – Sorrento

Departure from Rome to Naples. Upon arrival, walk around the city centre, discovering Piazza del Plebisicito, Palazzo Reale, Galleria Umberto I and Teatro San Carlo.Lunch in a local restaurant to taste authentic Neapolitan pizza. Proceed to Pompeii for the guided tour of the archaeological excavations. This ancient Roman city was destroyed when Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD and buried it, preserving it under a sea of volcanic ash for nearly 1700 years. Enjoy a stop in a cameos and coral shop. Transfer to Sorrento, famous for its picturesque old town centre and characteristic fisherman’s village of Marina Grande, one of the most authentic treasures of the city. Check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight stay. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner


Day 6 – Friday – Sorrento – Capri – Sorrento

Breakfast in the hotel and departure at 7:30 a.m. for the port of Sorrento. Meet the guide and sail to Capri by hydrofoil. After arriving at the island, enjoy a boat trip to the Blue Grotto (weather permitting). Continue by minibus to Anacapri and have lunch at a local restaurant. Then reach the legendary Piazzetta, heart of the island. Return to the port to head back to Sorrento. Dinner and overnight stay. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner


DAY 7 – Saturday – Sorrento – Pompeii – Rome

Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer from Sorrento to Pompeii at around 2:30 p.m. to board the bus going to Rome. Arrival scheduled for around 8:30 p.m. (with drop-off guaranteed at Viale Washington, Viale Luigi Einaudi / Termini Area and Via Ludovisi). Meals: Breakfast
