4 Days: Tromso

Tour Overview:
Experience This Unique Journey To The Arctic Coast Of Norway. In The Arctic Circle Be Amazed By A Blend Of First Class Travel, With The Most Fascinating And Invigorating Winter Activities In The Region. A Husky Safari And The Search For The Aurora Borealis Are Only Some Of The Possibilities In This Striking Destination.

Day 1 – Arrival – Tromso

Arrival to Tromso airport. Upon exiting the airport, please proceed to the Flybussen bus stop (regular airport express bus) and present your voucher to the driver. Your voucher is valid for both the arrival and departure transfers so please be sure to keep it safe. The Flybussen will transfer you the 5 km distance to the center of Tromso and drop off is within walking distance of your hotel. Check-in at your hotel* (guaranteed from 15:00). Overnight at Radisson Blu Tromso.

Day 2 – Tromso (B)

After breakfast, please go to the reception of the Radisson Blu Tromso for the morning activity. We recommend being at the starting point 15 min before the tour starts. Overnight at Radisson Blu Tromso.

DOG SLEDDING 2 persons per sledge
Be ready for a pick-up right outside your hotel at 09:30 where you will be met by a representative from Tromso Villmarkssenter and taken on a 25-minute bus ride to the Camp. At the camp you will be equipped with thermal overalls and boots to keep you nice and warm, all you need to bring is warm underwear, a hat and gloves, depending on the weather conditions. Depending on your circumstances and/or preferences you then venture out either with a musher or on a self-drive tour. Upon your return to the camp 300 friendly Alaskan huskies are waiting to greet you and enjoy some cuddles, followed by an affectionate and playful visit to the puppy enclosure. Once you have filled up on puppy love, it is time to enjoy a traditional Norwegian lunch in our cosy Gamme-hut (turf home). You will be served Bidos, a traditional stew prepared with Sami reindeer meat, broth and vegetables, a hot drink and for dessert a piece of their savoury signature chocolate cake. Once you are back in Tromso, the rest of the afternoon is at your leisure.

OPTION NR. 1 – DOG SLEDDING RIDE W/MUSHER: 2 persons per sledge
Climb into your sled, lean back and let the experienced musher drive you safely through the gorgeous mountain landscape of Kvaloya Island. This tour is perfect for anyone traveling with children or in search of comfortable adventure. You will be sharing the sled with a fellow guest and the ride is roughly 45-60 minutes.

OPTION NR. 2 – SELF-DRIVE DOG SLEDDING: 2 persons per sledge
One of the experienced guides will teach you the basics of dog sledding before you venture into the mountains. You will spend roughly 45-60 minutes (depending on the weather conditions) in the sled which you share with another visitor. You and your fellow rider take turns driving and riding, switching at the halfway point. This activity requires not only a good level of fitness, but also some maturity, which means that the age restriction of 16 years is enforced and applicable for drivers as well as passengers.

Day 3 – Tromso (BS)

The day is at leisure to enjoy Tromso also known as the Paris of the North. We recommend a visit to Polaria, a just five-minute walk from the center of Tromso. You will find it housed in a very distinctive building representing ice floes pressed up on land by the rough seas of the Arctic. Polaria offers an Arctic aquarium, interesting knowledge-based exhibits and a panoramic cinema where you can see the Ivo Caprino film “Svalbard – Arctic Wilderness” and the Ole C. Salomonsen production “Northern Lights in Arctic Norway”. In the evening, you will join the search for the northern lights starting from the reception of the Hotel Radisson Blu Tromso. We recommend being present latest at 17:00 hours. Overnight at Radisson Blu Tromso.

Aurora Chase – Northern Shots Tours: At 17:30 you will be picked up by a representative from Tromso Villmarkssenter at Roald Amundsen Plass 1, a 2-minute walk from your hotel, and the Aurora Chase begins. The expert Aurora Chasers draw upon on the latest weather reports and their local know-how to ensure that the optimal destination is found every night. Depending on the weather conditions, you might have to drive for a while, but we guarantee that it is worth the time. To make the travel time more comfortable for you, the buses are equipped with WIFI. A professional photographer will escort you on the tour and offer to capture a well composed photo of you with the Aurora for you to purchase separately, if you so desire. Throughout the evening you will be served hot drinks and snacks.

Day 4 – Tromso – Departure (B)

Breakfast and the day at your leisure until your departure transfer by regular Flybussen to Tromso in good time for your departure flight.
