ITINERARY
9 Days: Guatemala, Copan Honduras, El Salvador
Tour Overview:
Explore the worlds of today and yesterday in Central America. This tour balances the
adventure of visiting ancient remains of the Mayan civilization with opportunities to enjoy the pristine
beaches, flourishing markets and vibrant lifestyle many find so compelling in modern Guatemala,
Honduras and El Salvador.
Day 1 – Arrive Guatemala – Antigua
Arrive at Guatemala and transfer to Antigua, once the capital of all Central America. This is one of the best preserved colonial towns in the American Continent and is declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Day 2 – Antigua
Enjoy a full day at leisure to pursue independent activities and explore this colonial city; do not forget to visit the first University, the Cathedral, Las Capucinas Convent and The Jade Museum. (B) Optional: Tour to Tikal National Park available upon request
Day 3 – Chichicastenango & Lake Atitlan
Visit the Chichicastenango Market, the most important and impressive open air market in Central
America and its church Santo Tomás. Continue on your tour to Lake ATITLAN, one of the most beautiful lakes in the world according to experts. Take a glimpse of the spectacular beauty of the lake and walk through the streets of Panajachel and its lakeside market. (B)
Day 4 – Copan Ruins
Early Morning depart to the ancient city of COPAN. Copan’s sprawling ruins provide insight into how this fascinating culture once lived. Its massive structures and skillfully carved stonework are impressive reminders of the remarkable and advanced Maya civilization. Today you will visit the ruins to discover Copan’s enormous temples, plazas and monuments. Ornate stalaes divulge the astronomical and mathematical wisdom of the Maya. Enjoy the peaceful nature trails and wildlife that inhabit the area. (B)
Day 5 – Copan Ruins/ San Salvador /Ruta de Las Flores
After breakfast, depart to El Salvador, on route you will stop at Santa Ana City, with its impressive theater built during the gold era of coffee exports. Continue driving to town of Ataco at Ruta de las flores a popular destination among Salvadoreans, famous for its coffee and beautiful views (B)
Day 6 – Ruta de Las Flores – Joya de Ceren
Today you will visit The Coffee Process Plantation and The Flowers route, where some of the best coffee of El Salvador is produced, also the colorful town of Nahuizalco , salcoatitan, the tour will stop at for lunch overlooking the beautiful Coatepeque lake, after you will visit Joya de ceren. A world heritage site, the only Maya village in the world that was preserved by layers of ash from a Nearby volcano. (B)
Day 7 – San Salvador City tour
Start the day with a city tour of Modern san salvador, Zona rosa, Santa Elena, relief map, zapote
museum, you will have a walking tour in downtown including monseños Romero memorial place,
morazan plaza, Libertad plaza and the artistic Rosario church. During the afternoon you will visit San Salvador volcano and crater, on return enjoy the views of the valley and the fresh air (B)
Day 8 – La Libertad, Surf city
830 am Transfer to la Libertad beach /surf city, enjoy a morning on a beach club overlooking the pacific ocean, at noon transfer to El Tunco village, a popular destination visited by surfers from all over the world, free time for lunch. Return to the capital by 4 pm. Rest of the evening is at leisure. (B)
Day 9 – Depart San Salvador
Transfer to the airport for your flight to your onward destination. (B)
