Cairo
Cairo is the capital of Egypt and one of the largest cities in Africa. It lies on the Nile River and is home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World – the Pyramids of Giza and Sphinx. Historic Cairo, a UNESCO World Heritage site located within the city, offers visitors a unique look at one of its oldest Islamic cities, mosques, and monuments. Other noteworthy sites to visit are the Egyptian Museum, the Citadel, the Alabaster Mosque of Mohammed Ali, and the colorful Khan el Khalili Bazaar.
Valley of the Kings
The Valley of the Kings is one of the most famous archeological sites in the world. Situated on the west bank of the Nile near Luxor, the Valley of the Kings is the ancient burial ground of Egypt’s New Kingdom Pharaohs and nobles. It houses over 60 royal tombs - most notable is the Tomb of Tutankhamun which was found intact. The main tombs are the Tomb of Ay, Tomb of Horemheb, Tomb of Ramses III, Tomb of Ramses VI, and Tomb of Seti I.
Luxor
Luxor, located in southern Egypt, is known as the ancient city of Thebes with its Necropolis. It was the capital of Egypt during the Middle and New Kingdoms period. Today, it is one of the world’s largest open-air museums with its collection of ancient temples and monuments. Here you will find the temples of Luxor, Karnak, and Amun.
Nile Cruise
The Nile River is the longest river in the world. It flows northward from the African Equator all the way into the Mediterranean Sea.
