Tokyo
Tokyo, Japan's capital and the world's most populous city, is the political and economic center of the country, as well as the seat of the Emperor of Japan. Tokyo offers unlimited choice of shopping, entertainment, culture and dining to its visitors. The city's history can be appreciated in many of its districts with museums, historic temples and sprawling gardens.
Mt. Fuji
Mt. Fuji is Japan’s highest mountain and an active volcano, with its most recent eruption in 1707. The nearly perfect shaped volcano has been worshipped as a sacred mountain for centuries and is arguably Japan’s most iconic attraction, immortalized in countless works of art. It attracts more than a million visitors each year and offer many reasons, including cultural attractions and fun things to do besides summiting the peak.
Osaka
Osaka is the third largest metropolitan area in Japan and among the largest in the world, with more than 20 million inhabitants. Osaka also has a historical side, the best example being Osaka Castle. The castle is a great place to discover more about Japanese history and to walk the beautiful grounds, especially during the cherry blossom season, when the Sakura blooms and the weather are at their best.
Kanazawa
Located on the central coast of Japan's largest island Honshu, Kanazawa is an old castle city; well-known for its wealthy records and culture, preserved buildings, temples and lovely gardens. Kenroku-en Garden is one of Japan’s top rated gardens. The Omicho market, a spacious indoor complex with stalls selling fresh produce, seafood and meat is one of the city’s most popular spots.
Kyoto
Kyoto is well-known for its numerous classical Buddhist temples, palaces, Shinto shrines and conventional wooden homes. It is also famous for formal traditions consisting of kaiseki dining, consisting of more than one courses of precise dishes. With countless historic sites, including the world renowned Golden Pavilion and the Kyoto Imperial Palace, it is one of Japan’s most visited destinations.
Hakone
Famous for hot springs, natural beauty and the view across Lake Ashinoko of nearby Mt. Fuji, Hakone is a popular destination among tourists visiting Japan. It is surrounded by Hakone Shrine, a Shinto shrine with a red “torii” gate overlooking the lake.
Hiroshima
Hiroshima is a modern city on Japan’s Honshu Island and was largely destroyed by an atomic bomb during World War II. The destructing power of the bomb was tremendous and obliterated nearly everything. Great efforts were made to rebuild the city post the war and its historical heritage, including the Hiroshima Castle were reconstructed. The Peace Memorial Park, built to commemorate world peace is one of Hiroshima’s main attractions.
