Nairobi

Nairobi is the capital and largest city in Kenya. It is known as the safari capital of Africa. It is a modern city with boundless energy. One of the must sees in Nairobi is the Karen Blixen Museum. It is the colonial home where Baroness Karen Blixen lived with her husband. Her autobiography was the basis for the film “Out of Africa”. Another attraction in Nairobi is Giraffe Manor and conservation Center where you can see the rare Rothschild giraffe.

Masai Mara

Masai Mara

Masai Mara is located in the Great Rift Valley in south west Kenya and is one of Africa’s greatest wildlife reserves. It is named in honor of the Masaai people, the ancestral inhabitants of the area. The annual wildebeest migration is in Kenya from July to November. Over 90 species of mammals, amphibians and reptiles are found in this area as well as over 400 bird species.

Amboseli

Amboseli National Park

Amboseli is on the border with Tanzania and offers some of the best views of Mount Kilimanjaro. The National Park embodies five main wildlife habitats: open plains, acacia woodland, rocky thorn bush country, swamps and marshland. Amboseli has over 80 different mammals to be found. Few visitors will go home without amazing elephant photos with Kilimanjaro as a backdrop.

Samburu

Samburu

Samburu National Reserve is one of the lesser-known national parks. The reserve is rich in wildlife including the rare northern species such as the Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk and the beisa oryx (also referred to as Samburu Special Five). Samburu reserve is also home to elephants, lions, leopard and wild dog. There are also over 450 species of birds in the area.

Lake Nakuru

Lake Nakuru National Park

In the Great Rift Valley, Lake Nakuru National Park is surrounded by rocky escarpments, wooded and bushy grasslands. The Park has Kenya’s largest population of Rhinos. The Lake itself occupies about one third of the park. During peak season, millions of flamingos and pelicans congregate on the lake.
