Vilnius
Vilnius is the capital, and largest city, of Lithuania. This city is known for its well-preserved buildings in Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical styles such as the Vilnius Cathedral, Gediminas Tower, and Church of St. Peter & St. Paul. A UNESCO World Heritage site, the Old town of Vilnius is filled with cobblestone streets and ornate structures along with modern cafes, specialty shops, and restaurants.
Curonian Spit
Curonian Spit is a thin 60 mile stretch of land between the Baltic Sea and the Curonian Lagoon with small fishing villages, pine forests, and endless sand dunes. Here you can visit the fishing villages of Nida, Juodkrante, Pervalka and Preila. In Juodkrante, visit the Hill of Witches – an outdoor gallery with wooden sculptures.
Klaipeda
Klaipeda is the third largest city, and only port, of Lithuania. Previously a German town called Memel, Klaipeda is known for its Old Town with its cobblestoned streets and old guild houses. The buildings in this area are built in the German style with the distinctive half-timbered facades. In Klaipeda, you can visit the historic landmark, Annchen von Tharau Fountain, in the Theatre Square.
Trakai
Trakai is a small town situated between two lakes, located 17 miles southwest of Vilnius. Travelers to this town will enjoy a visit to the well preserved Trakai Castle, located on an island in Lake Galve. The castle is historically rich and surrounded by natural beauty.
