ITINERARY

Tour Overview:

Start in the beautiful capital of Finland, Helsinki before boarding your train for your Polar adventure in Lapland. Wander through the snow sculptures in Kemi, take a husky sled ride, visit a traditional Reindeer farm in Napapiiri, take part in a King Crab Excursion in the Barents Sea and marvel at the northern lights. A once in a lifetime experience is awaiting you in the Arctic!


Day 1: Arrive in Helsinki

Welcome to Helsinki, one of the northernmost capitals in the world. Arrival at the airport and transfer to your hotel. Departure at 11:30 and 15:30 from the Airport. The capital of Helsinki is built on a peninsula surrounded by some 330 islands, the city is strongly characterized by the presence of water. Summer is the most pleasant time to discover Helsinki. The Midnight Sun allows you to enjoy the city and cultural events. The Christmas period is also very warm. The streets of Helsinki are then covered with snow and the spectacle of the illuminations is magical despite the cold. Dinner under own arrangements

Day 2: Helsinki – Kemi / Guide Train & Overnight Train

Breakfast at the hotel.
Guided tour of the Finnish capital including Senaatintori, the magnificent architectural ensemble of Senate Square. An empire-style work of art (scenes from the movie Doctor Zhivago were filmed here). Continue to Kauppatori, a picturesque market square on the edge of the port, characterized by an abundance of flowers, fruits and busy merchants. Helsinki is very rich architecturally, with in particular the cathedral of Tuomio kirkko built in the 19th century, endowed with an imposing copper dome. Concerts are regularly given there. Finally, you will pass in front of the neo-Byzantine style Uspenskiin Katedraali Orthodox Cathedral erecting its mighty mass of red bricks in Katajaka Island.
Free time for lunch and exploration of the City.

In the early evening, board the overnight train to Kemi.

Day 3: Kemi – Rovaniemi / Ice-Breaker And Swimming Cruise

Arrival in Kemi, on the shores of the Gulf of Bothnia. Breakfast at a hotel restaurant.
Go on an incredible adventure on the icy waters of the Gulf. Observe the clash between the powerful icebreaker and the thick layer of ice of this sea. Stroll on the icy expanse that awaits you. Defy the laws of nature in comfort and safety aboard the icebreaker. Live an unusual experience by swimming in the icy waters with a survival suit or by getting off the boat for the time to walk on the frozen waters. Then you will visit the SnowExperience365, a snowy world open all year round, with its sculptures made of ice, its ice slide, and its restaurant with tables made entirely of ice. Road to Rovaniemi. Arrival in Rovaniemi and check in at the hotel.

Day 4: Rovaniemi / Dog Sledding And Ranua Wildlife Park

Breakfast at the hotel.
Departure for Ranua, where you will begin with a discovery of the sled dog farm. You will receive explanations about these arctic sportsmen, and leave for a mini-safari (3 km) with the musher. Then you will have time to take pictures of the dogs, then ask your questions to the musher about his activity. Lunch in Ranua Park
You will then discover the most northerly zoo in the world and take an invigorating walk in the open air at your own pace to admire the Arctic fauna in its authentic wild setting: Moose, reindeer, wolverines, arctic fox…. but especially the impressive polar bear. A great visit to discover and understand these animals that evolve in countries with extreme conditions.
Little free time for gourmets to discover the store of the famous Finnish Fazer chocolates.

Optional: Northern Lights Evening

In the evening, a guide will take you out of the city and into the light to a place where your chances are greatest for seeing the Northern Lights. You will enjoy a picnic there under the stars, and with a bit of luck under the Northern Lights too!

Day 5: Rovaniemi – Inari / Reindeer Farm

Breakfast at the hotel.
Guided visit to Napapiiri in a traditional Reindeer farm where you will have a chance to be very close to animals. You will also have the opportunity to try your hand at driving a reindeer team during a mini-safari. Lunch on site. In the early afternoon, continue further north towards Inari beyond the Arctic Circle. Arrival and installation at your hotel.

Free evening to explore the village of Inari. The landscapes of the far north, their national parks, their lakes and their mountains offer a multitude of opportunities in all seasons. In winter, the Northern Lights dance across the sky for up to 200 days a year.

Day 6: Inari – Kirkenes – Inari / King Crab Safari

Breakfast at the hotel and departure to the town of Kirkenes. Located in the far northeast of Norway, near the Russian border, it is known as the capital of the Barents region.
On your arrival, take part in a King Crab Excursion in the Barents Sea (about 3 hours) to learn more about the taming of the king crab and its expansion in the Barents Sea.
After being provided with warm gear, you will be driven over the frozen Langfjord on a sled pulled by a snowmobile. Your guide will accompany you to the crab trap and you will participate in the giant crab hauling experience. The guide will tell you about this animal and you will see how it is prepared. You can take it in hand and take pictures with it.
After the fishing, the excursion continues to a restaurant near the fjord, where you will feast on giant crab, served Norwegian style. Survival suits, drinks and unlimited king crab tasting are included.

Optional visit to a famous Kirkenes attraction: the Kirkenes Ice Hotel (see list of options), a hotel built entirely of snow and ice each year, open from December to April and whose interior temperature of hotel is -4°C.

Return to Inari at the end of the day.

Day 7: Inari- Helsinki

Breakfast at the hotel.
Free morning in Inari to discover this small village, important center of the Sami community with the parliament, the cultural center.
You can visit the remarkable Siida Museum, presenting the history, life and culture of the Sami people.
Transfer to Ivalo airport for your return flight to Helsinki.

Day 8: Depart

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer and return flight to your country.
