ITINERARY

11 Days: South Luangwa National Park. Lower Zambezi National Park. Livingstone

Tour overview:
The Luangwa Valley. which marks the end of the Great Rift Valley. is one of the last unspoiled wilderness areas and possibly the finest wildlife sanctuary in Africa. It covers an area of over 9000 sq. km. through which the meandering Luangwa River runs. The ox bow lagoons. woodland and plains of the valley host huge concentrations of game -including elephant. buffalo. leopard. lion. giraffe. hippo -and over 450 species of birds. Add to this the rich Lower Zambezi National Park and Livingstone with the famed Victoria Fall and you have the best of Zambia.

Day 1 - Arrive Lusaka / Mfuwe / South Luangwa National Park

Arrive to Lusaka. Zambia where you are met and assisted to connect with the flight to Mfuwe. Transfer to your lodge nestled between two picturesque lagoons in the heart of South Luangwa National Park for a 2 night stay. Afternoon game drive. (D)

Day 2 - South Luangwa National Park

In between game drives. walks and mouth watering meals. relax with a book on the library's private deck. an ideal spot to take in the tranquility of Africa. The Luangwa River is the most intact major river system in Africa and is the life blood of the South Luangwa National Park. The park hosts a wide variety of wildlife. birds and vegetation. The now famous “walking safari” originated in this park and is still one of the finest ways to experience this pristine wilderness first hand. (BLD)

Day 3-5 - South Luangwa National Park - Bush Camp

Transfer by road to your bush camp situated in the heart of the South Luangwa National Park for a 3 night stay. Avid game viewers and birdwatchers can set out on superb walking safaris. game drives. night drives and scenic sun downer trips in the surrounding area. (BLD)

Day 6 - South Luangwa National Park / Lower Zambezi National Park

After the morning activity. transfer to Mfuwe Airport. Scheduled flight from Mfuwe to Royal Airstrip at the Lower Zambezi National Park traveling via Lusaka. Arrive and transfer to your lodge for a 3 night stay. Royal Zambezi Lodge. a spacious but intimate privately owned lodge. situated in Zambia on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River just minutes from the Lower Zambezi National Park and directly opposite Zimbabwe's famous Mana Pools World Heritage Site. Day 7 & 8 - Lower Zambezi National Park

Enjoy two full days with morning and afternoon wildlife viewing on game drives and by boat safaris on the magnificent Zambezi River. Fishing safari expeditions. walking safaris and canoeing trips are also available. The park is still relatively undeveloped. but its beauty lies in its absolute wilderness state. The diversity of animals is not as wide as the other big parks. but the opportunities to get close to game wandering in and out of the Zambezi channels are spectacular. (BLD)

Day 9 - Lower Zambezi National Park / Livingstone

Morning transfer to the airstrip for a scheduled flight to Livingstone via Lusaka. Upon arrival. you will be met and transferred to your lodge situated on the banks of the Zambezi River just outside Livingstone for a 2 night stay. A floating pontoon gently sways on the Zambezi River. making it the perfect location for sun-downers. fishing or just relaxing and enjoying the view. (BLD)

Day 10 - Livingstone

Enjoy your choice of two activities today. Options include a tour of the Victoria Falls. sunset cruise. daytime cruise. fishing. island picnics. guided birding. guided village walk and guided tour of the town and local markets. (BLD)
