9 Days: Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Sepilok, Suka, Danum Valley, Kuala Lumpur

Tour Overview:
This tour starts in Borneo where you will see the highest peak in Southeast Asia, Mt Kinabalu; the orangutans at the Sepilok Rehabilitation Center; and a stay in a rainforest lodge. You then will travel to the Peninsula to the capital city, Kuala Lumpur with its tall twin towers and visit the UNESCO site in Malacca.

Day 1: Arrive Kota Kinabalu

Day 2: Mt. Kinabalu Excursion

At 13,455 Mt. Kinabalu is the highest mountain in all of South East Asia! Visit the national park at the base of the volcano. A nature walk allows time to photograph spectacular and rare flora and fauna, including vibrantly colored butterflies and insects. GRANDIS HOTEL / SHANGRI-LA TANJUNG ARU RESORT (BL)

Day 3: Kota Kinabalu / Sandakan / Sepilok / Sukau

Fly to Sandakan, home to the famed “Wild Men of Borneo” (the orangutan). Meet upon arrival at the Sandakan Airpor t(preferably on MH2042 OR AK6492). Drive for approximately 30 minutes to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Center. Proceed to the free roaming area feeding platform. 1000 hrs feeding of Orang Utans. At this center, observe man’s closest relative “the Orang Utan” being rehabilitated to become wild in their natural habitat and experience a walk in the Tropical Lowland Dipterocarp Forest of Borneo. visit to the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, the centre that managed to improve the living condition of the rescued sun bear and released their natural behaviors in the 2.5ha enclosed forest. 11:15hrs, depart Sepilok Centre transfer to jetty in Sandakan for Schedule boat depart at 1200hrs, take an hour boat cruise up to the Lower Kinabatangan River Sanctuary where you will take your lunch at Abai Jungle Restaurant, This is a wonderful journey of discovery which starts from the waters of Sulu Sea of Sandakan Town through a magnificent scenery of the Mangrove Forest. cruise UP river to Sukau village in search of primates especially the Endemic Proboscis Monkeys, birds and other wildlife. Arrive Sukau, check in at Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge. Late afternoon, river cruise to Menanggul River, a small tributary of the Kinabatangan. Day 4: Sukau / Lahad Datu / Danum Valley

After breakfast, transfer by 2hrs overland to Lahad Datu and follow by another 2.5hrs overland journey on a gravel road to Borneo Rainforest Lodge. Check into Borneo Rainforest Lodge. In the afternoon, an introduction to the forest through Nature Trail and proceed to the Canopy Walkway. In the evening, if weather permits, experience a Night Drive in an open-air truck in search of nocturnal animals. BORNEO RAINFOREST LODGE (BLD)

Day 5: In Danum Valley

Guided jungle activities – trek to the Kadazandusun burial site – Coffin Cliff then proceed with trekking to the View Point for a bird’s eye view of the Danum Valley and the Borneo lowland rainforest. Descend to the Jacuzzi Pool for a refreshing dip. Optional: Water tubing for an hour in the Danum River or Trekking along the Segama River. In the evening, if weather permits, enjoy a Night Walk around the lodge in search of nocturnal animals. (BLD)

Day 6: Danum Valley / Kota Kinabalu

Transfer to Lahad Datu Airport for departure flight to Kota Kinabalu via MH 3023 (1730/1825). Upon arrival, you will be met and transfer to hotel. GRANDIS HOTEL / SHANGRI-LA TANJUNG ARU RESORT (BL)

Day 7: Kota Kinabalu / Kuala Lumpur

Transfer to airport for your flight for Kuala Lumpur. You will be met upon arrival and transferred to your hotel. NOVOTEL KUALA LUMPUR CITY CENTRE / SHANGRI-LA HOTEL (B)

Day 8: Malacca Excursion

Visit the ruins of St Paul`s Church and the Stadthuys, believed to be the oldest Dutch building in the East, now housing the Malacca Museum. NOVOTEL KUALA LUMPUR CITY CENTRE / SHANGRI-LA HOTEL (BL)

Day 9: Kuala Lumpur / Home

Your morning tour of the city covers the major historical landmarks such as King’s Palace, National Monument, and Merdeka (Independence) Square. Enjoy a panoramic view of the city from the observation deck of the KL Tower. Afternoon transfer to the airport for your flight back home (B)
