7 Days: Wales, Cardiff, Laugharne, Tenby, Snowdonia

Tour Overview:
SITA invites you to discover Wales during an five-day tour which will give you a taste of the stunning scenery, vibrant people and rich cultural heritage of this beautiful country! The tour includes a range of historical and cultural visits, as well as time to relax and enjoy the country for yourself.

This guaranteed departure tour departs Cardiff every Monday and allows you to explore Wales from the comfort of a luxury vehicle, with a knowledgeable guide and in small, exclusive groups to ensure a personal experience!

 

Day 1 – Saturday: Arrival in Wales

Today you will arrive into the UK and begin your adventure by touring to Wales. Along the way you will stop at the famous Tintern Abbey, one of the greatest monastic ruins in the UK. It was made famous by William Worsdworth’s “Lines Composed a few miles above Tintern Abbey”. Travel to the small town of Caerleon, once one of the most important settlements in the Roman Empire. The National Roman Legion Museum tells the town’s story, while nearby, lies the remains of the most complete amphitheatre in Britain, the fortress baths and the only Roman Legionary barracks still on view anywhere in Europe. Day 2 – Sunday: Cardiff

Cardiff Castle is an impressive Norman Castle, and an extraordinary Victorian Gothic fantasy palace created for one of the world’s richest men. Prepare to get fascinated as you explore his story through the house tour. Afterwards, you will embark on a private food tasting tour through Cardiff’s thriving food scene – Welsh signature foods, ethnic and continental foods, traditional and street markets and festivals. You will learn about the history as you taste your way through the Capital. This vibrant city is built around its castle and features plenty of impressive historic buildings to visit as well as handsome parks and gardens. Overnight: Cathedral 73 Hotel or similar, Cardiff


Day 3 – Monday: Laugharne & Tenby

Today you will be met by your guide and continue onto our Snapshot of Wales tour – your adventure is far from over! Today you will begin your tour into Wales! Travel into the stunning Pembrokeshire peninsula. On the way, stop at the small town of Laugharne where Dylan Thomas lived with his family for the last four years of his life, Later, visit the Lovespoon Workshop to learn about this custom before enjoying free time in the picturesque seaside town of Tenby. Day 4 – Tuesday: St. Davids & Cardigan Bay

This morning, visit the unique city of St Davids, smallest city in Britain, and spend some time in the magnificent Cathedral and the ruins of the medieval Bishops Castle next to it. Next travel up the coast to the bustling university town of Aberystwyth, where you will have time to explore the fascinating National Library of Wales which overlooks the town and fantastic Cardigan Bay! Day 5 – Wednesday: Devil’s Bridge & Snowdonia

Today embark on the Vale of Rheidol Steam Railway and enjoy the village of Devil’s Bridge in the heart of the Cambrian Mountains and take a walk around the mythical waterfalls here which are said to be the last place the Devil visited in Wales. This afternoon travel into North Wales, enjoying the sights of Snowdonia National Park, your second National Park of the trip! Overnight: Bron Menai Guest House, Caernarfon or similar (B)


Day 6 – Thursday: Snowdonia

Today you will travel first to the island of Anglesey. Stop at the longest place name in Europe, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, before the busy market town of Caernarfon where you will visit the imposing medieval Castle, built by Edward the 1st. This afternoon, visit the National Slate Museum in the heart of Snowdonia and the Bodnant Welsh Food Centre. Enjoy a farewell dinner with the group tonight. Day 7 – Friday: Departure

Today you will depart for your onward journey, taking your memories of this special trip with you! If you would like to extend your trip, we would be delighted to assist you. Transfers are available to a nearby train station, and optional train tickets can be booked to Cardiff, London or any other departure point on request (additional costs apply).
